Description

This classic Italian dessert features layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and a luscious mascarpone cream, creating a visually stunning tiramisu aesthetic.


Ingredients

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup brewed coffee, cooled
  • 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 24 ladyfingers
  • Cocoa powder for dusting
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the milk to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, whisking constantly until thickened. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  4. Fold in the mascarpone cheese into the cooled egg mixture until smooth.
  5. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.
  6. In a shallow dish, combine the brewed coffee and coffee liqueur.
  7. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture and layer them in a serving dish.
  8. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  9. Repeat the layering process with the remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture.
  10. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
  11. Before serving, dust with cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings if desired.

Notes

  • For a stronger coffee flavor, use espresso instead of brewed coffee.
  • Make sure to not soak the ladyfingers for too long, or they will become too soggy.
