These sourdough chocolate chip cookies are soft, chewy, and packed with chocolate. They are a perfect way to use up sourdough starter while creating a delicious dessert.

- 1 cup (240g) sourdough starter, unfed
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (175g) chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the sourdough starter, softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until well combined.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
- In another bowl, whisk together the baking soda, salt, and flour.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Make sure your sourdough starter is at room temperature for best results.
- For a twist, you can add nuts or dried fruits to the cookie dough.
