Ingredients

  • 45 lbs beef brisket
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on all sides until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  2. Remove the brisket from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add sliced onions and garlic. Sauté until the onions are translucent.
  4. In a slow cooker, combine beef broth, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Mix well.
  5. Place the seared brisket into the slow cooker and pour the onion and garlic mixture over it.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the brisket is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
  7. Once cooked, remove the brisket from the slow cooker and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
  8. Serve with the sauce from the slow cooker.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the brisket in your favorite rub overnight before cooking.
  • Leftover brisket can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
