Celebrate Memorial Day with these stunning red, white, and blue desserts that will impress every guest at your gathering. Perfect for barbecues and picnics, these festive treats are easy to make and delicious to eat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pint Fresh strawberries
  • 1 pint Blueberries
  • 2 cups Whipped cream
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) Vanilla cake mix
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable oil
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 tablespoon Red gel food coloring
  • 1 tablespoon Blue gel food coloring
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and milk. Mix until smooth.
  3. Divide the batter into three bowls. Leave one bowl plain, color the second bowl with red gel food coloring, and the third bowl with blue gel food coloring.
  4. Pour the plain batter into one of the prepared cake pans. Pour the red batter into the second pan and the blue batter into a third pan if available (or bake in batches).
  5. Bake according to package instructions or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 25-30 minutes.
  6. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Once cooled, layer the cakes starting with the blue layer, followed by whipped cream, then the white layer, more whipped cream, and finally the red layer.
  8. Frost the entire cake with whipped cream and decorate with fresh strawberries and blueberries on top.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar before serving for an extra touch.
  10. Slice and serve to your guests, enjoying the festive colors!

Notes

  • For an extra flavor twist, add vanilla extract to the cake batter.
  • Make sure the cakes are completely cool before frosting to prevent melting.
  • Feel free to use store-bought cake for a quicker option.
