Description

This easy orange chicken recipe features crispy chicken pieces coated in a sweet and tangy orange sauce, making it a perfect weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 2 cups vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 green onions
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Dredge chicken pieces in cornstarch, shaking off excess.
  3. Once the oil is hot, add the chicken in batches, frying until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per batch. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together orange juice, soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
  5. Pour the sauce into the skillet and bring to a simmer. Cook for about 3-5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Add the fried chicken pieces back into the skillet, tossing to coat in the sauce.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, double fry the chicken.
  • You can use chicken breast instead of thighs if you prefer.
  • Serve over steamed rice or with vegetables for a complete meal.
