  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

These crispy, sugary churros are a classic Mexican dessert that are easy to make and perfect for dipping in chocolate sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for coating)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons of oil. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in flour until mixture forms a ball. Let it cool for 5 minutes.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Heat oil for frying in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat.
  5. Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough into hot oil, cutting with scissors.
  6. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
  7. In a shallow dish, mix 1/2 cup sugar with cinnamon. Roll warm churros in the sugar mixture.
  8. Serve with chocolate sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying; test with a small piece of dough.
  • You can store leftover churros in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
