These crispy, sugary churros are a classic Mexican dessert that are easy to make and perfect for dipping in chocolate sauce.
Ingredients

- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for coating)
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons of oil. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Remove from heat and stir in flour until mixture forms a ball. Let it cool for 5 minutes.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Heat oil for frying in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat.
- Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough into hot oil, cutting with scissors.
- Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
- In a shallow dish, mix 1/2 cup sugar with cinnamon. Roll warm churros in the sugar mixture.
- Serve with chocolate sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying; test with a small piece of dough.
- You can store leftover churros in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
