Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Gradually whisk in cold water until the batter is smooth.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Dip onion rings into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.
- Carefully place onion rings in the hot oil, frying in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove onion rings and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with BBQ sauce for dipping.
