Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (4-5 pounds) beef brisket
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
- Rub the spice mixture all over the brisket, ensuring it is well-coated.
- In a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on both sides until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- Remove the brisket and set aside. In the same pot, add sliced onions and minced garlic, cooking until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce to the pot, stirring to combine. Return the brisket to the pot, fat side up.
- Cover the pot with a lid or tightly with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven.
- Cook for 3-4 hours, or until the brisket is tender and easily shredded with a fork.
- Remove from the oven and let the brisket rest for 15 minutes before slicing against the grain.
- Serve warm, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider marinating the brisket overnight with the spice rub.
- You can also add vegetables like carrots and potatoes to the pot for a complete meal.
- Leftover brisket can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
