How Long to Cook Beef Brisket in the Instant Pot: Perfectly Tender Every Time

  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

This Instant Pot beef brisket recipe delivers tender, juicy brisket in a fraction of the time it takes to cook traditionally. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, it’s the ideal dish for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 pounds beef brisket
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Season the brisket with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  2. Set the Instant Pot to ‘Sauté’ mode. Add a little oil and sear the brisket on all sides until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add onion and garlic to the pot, sautéing until softened.
  4. Pour in the beef broth, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to combine.
  5. Return the brisket to the pot, ensuring it is submerged in the liquid.
  6. Close the lid and set the Instant Pot to ‘Manual’ or ‘Pressure Cook’ for 60 minutes.
  7. Once the cooking time is complete, allow for a natural pressure release for 10-15 minutes before manually releasing any remaining pressure.
  8. Remove the brisket and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing against the grain.

Notes

  • For a more flavorful brisket, marinate it overnight with the seasoning.
  • Adjust the cooking time for larger or smaller briskets; generally, cook for about 1 hour per 2 pounds.
  • Serve with your favorite sides or use the leftovers in sandwiches or tacos.
