A delicious and creamy green bean casserole topped with crispy fried onions, perfect for holiday gatherings and family dinners.

- 4 cups fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- 1 1/2 cups crispy fried onions, divided
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large pot of boiling water, blanch the green beans for about 5 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Add the blanched green beans to the soup mixture and stir until the beans are fully coated.
- If using, mix in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Gently fold in 1 cup of the crispy fried onions, reserving the remaining 1/2 cup for topping.
- Transfer the green bean mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish and spread evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle the reserved fried onions on top.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
Notes
- For a healthier version, you can use reduced-fat cream of mushroom soup and low-fat milk.
- Feel free to add cooked bacon or sautéed mushrooms for extra flavor.
