Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups green beans (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/3 cups fried onions (divided)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Transfer the mixture into a 2-quart baking dish.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  5. Remove the casserole from the oven and stir in 2/3 cup of fried onions.
  6. Top with the remaining fried onions and return to the oven.
  7. Bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a homemade version, you can replace the cream of mushroom soup with a mixture of sautéed mushrooms, milk, and flour.
  • Feel free to add cheese for extra flavor.
  • This casserole can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
