Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  2. In another bowl, beat the eggs and then mix in the milk and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The batter should be smooth.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Using a funnel or a squeeze bottle, pour the batter into the hot oil in a circular motion to create a crisscross pattern.
  6. Fry each funnel cake for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  7. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
