- 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon Baking powder

- 1/2 cup Unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup Milk
- 4 cups Fresh strawberries
- 1 cup Heavy cream
- 1/4 cup Powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the milk until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently. Pat into a 1-inch thick rectangle.
- Cut out shortcakes using a round cutter and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool on a wire rack.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- To assemble, slice the shortcakes in half, layer with strawberries and whipped cream, then top with the other half. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider macerating the strawberries with a little sugar for about 30 minutes before using.
- This dessert can be made in advance, but it’s best to assemble right before serving for the freshest taste.
