Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh or frozen green beans
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.
  2. Add the green beans and half of the crispy fried onions to the mixture. Stir until everything is evenly coated.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a greased crockpot.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours or on high for 2 to 3 hours, until the green beans are tender.
  5. About 30 minutes before serving, stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and the remaining crispy fried onions on top.
  6. Cover and let it cook for the remaining time until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can add cooked and crumbled bacon to the mixture.
  • If using fresh green beans, trim the ends and cut them into bite-sized pieces before adding.
  • Feel free to adjust the cheese amount based on your preference.
