Description
These homemade churros are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and coated in cinnamon sugar. Perfect for dipping in chocolate sauce or enjoying on their own!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, 2 tablespoons sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in the flour. Mix until a dough forms.
- Allow the dough to cool for a few minutes, then add the eggs and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and fully combined.
- In a large, deep skillet, heat oil over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).
- Transfer the churro dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
- Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them to your desired length with scissors. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove churros from oil and drain on paper towels.
- In a shallow bowl, combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Roll the warm churros in the cinnamon sugar mixture until coated.
- Serve immediately with chocolate sauce for dipping, if desired.
Notes
- Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying; otherwise, the churros will absorb too much oil.
- You can adjust the thickness of the churros by using a larger or smaller piping tip.
