Ingredients

  • 1 can beer
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • to taste optional: fresh herbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 375°F to 400°F).
  2. Remove the giblets from the chicken and pat it dry with paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  4. Rub the spice mixture all over the chicken, including under the skin for extra flavor.
  5. Open the can of beer and drink (or pour out) half of it. You can add fresh herbs into the can for extra flavor if desired.
  6. Place the beer can inside the cavity of the chicken, ensuring it stands upright.
  7. Carefully place the chicken upright on the grill, either directly on the grates or using a beer can chicken holder.
  8. Close the grill lid and cook for about 1 to 1.5 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  9. Once cooked, carefully remove the chicken from the grill. Let it rest for 10 minutes before carving.
