- 2 pounds beef brisket
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 small corn or flour tortillas
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
- Lime wedges for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- In a large oven-safe pot, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the brisket with salt and pepper, then sear it in the pot until browned on all sides.
- Remove the brisket and set aside. In the same pot, add chopped onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
- Stir in beef broth, chili powder, cumin, and smoked paprika. Return the brisket to the pot, cover with a lid, and transfer to the oven.
- Cook for 3-4 hours, or until the brisket is fork-tender. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
- Shred the brisket with two forks, mixing it with the cooking liquid.
- Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave.
- To assemble the tacos, place a generous amount of shredded brisket on each tortilla, and top with diced tomatoes, avocado slices, shredded lettuce, and chopped cilantro.
- Serve with lime wedges on the side.
