  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a large oven-safe pot, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the brisket with salt and pepper, then sear it in the pot until browned on all sides.
  3. Remove the brisket and set aside. In the same pot, add chopped onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
  4. Stir in beef broth, chili powder, cumin, and smoked paprika. Return the brisket to the pot, cover with a lid, and transfer to the oven.
  5. Cook for 3-4 hours, or until the brisket is fork-tender. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Shred the brisket with two forks, mixing it with the cooking liquid.
  7. Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave.
  8. To assemble the tacos, place a generous amount of shredded brisket on each tortilla, and top with diced tomatoes, avocado slices, shredded lettuce, and chopped cilantro.
  9. Serve with lime wedges on the side.
