Air Fryer Sweets: 5 Irresistible Candy Apples Made Easy

  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

These air fryer candy apples are a fun twist on the classic treat, made easy and quick with your air fryer. Perfect for fall festivities or Halloween parties!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium apples (Granny Smith or Fuji recommended)
  • 2 cups granulated white sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon red gel food coloring
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon extract (optional)
  • 6 wooden candy apple sticks
  • Non-stick cooking spray
  • Parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Prepare your air fryer basket by lining it with parchment paper and lightly coating it with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Remove the wax from the apples by dipping them in boiling water for 5 seconds, then scrub them dry with a kitchen towel.
  3. Insert a stick into the stem end of each apple, pushing it about halfway through.
  4. In a saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir until the sugar is moistened.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat without stirring. Use a wet pastry brush to wipe down any sugar crystals on the sides of the pan.
  6. Continue boiling until the temperature reaches 300°F (hard crack stage), about 15 to 20 minutes. Monitor closely during the last few minutes.
  7. Remove the pan from heat and stir in the gel food coloring and cinnamon extract if using. Allow the bubbles to subside for 1 to 2 minutes.
  8. Tilt the saucepan and dip each apple, swirling to coat completely. Allow excess syrup to drip back into the pan.
  9. Place the coated apples in the air fryer basket and cook at 300°F for 5-7 minutes until the coating is set and glossy.
  10. Let the apples cool at room temperature for at least 20 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the candy coating reaches 300°F to avoid a sticky texture.
  • Wait for the bubbles to settle before dipping for a smooth finish.
  • Store at room temperature and consume within 1-2 days for best texture.
