This rich and moist chocolate cake is made effortlessly in the air fryer. Perfect for a quick dessert without the need for an oven!
Ingredients

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup boiling water
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix buttermilk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin.
- Pour the batter into a greased 7-inch round cake pan that fits in your air fryer.
- Preheat the air fryer to 320°F (160°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Place the cake pan in the air fryer basket and cook for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Once done, remove the pan from the air fryer and let it cool for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, add chocolate chips to the batter before cooking.
- You can frost the cake with your favorite chocolate or vanilla frosting once cooled.
