Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, pepperoni, Italian sausage (if using), spinach, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- On a lightly floured surface, divide the pizza dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a 7-inch circle.
- Spoon about 1/4 of the cheese and meat mixture onto one half of each dough circle, leaving a 1/2-inch border.
- Moisten the edges of the dough with water. Fold the other half of the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape. Press the edges firmly to seal. You can also crimp the edges with a fork for a decorative touch.
- Brush the tops of the calzones with olive oil. Cut a few slits in the top of each calzone to allow steam to escape.
- Transfer the calzones to the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let the calzones cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Feel free to customize the filling with your favorite ingredients. Mushrooms, olives, and bell peppers are great additions.,For a crispier crust, place a pizza stone in the oven while it preheats.,Calzones can be assembled ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator until ready to bake. Add a few minutes to the baking time.
