Description

Beef Wellington is a classic dish featuring tender beef fillet coated with mushroom duxelles and wrapped in puff pastry.


Ingredients

  • 1 beef fillet (2 pounds)
  • 8 ounces of mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 4 slices of prosciutto
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Season the beef fillet with salt and pepper.
  3. In a pan, sear the beef on all sides until browned.
  4. Remove the beef and let it cool.
  5. In the same pan, cook mushrooms until moisture evaporates.
  6. Spread Dijon mustard over the cooled beef.
  7. Wrap the beef in prosciutto, then in mushroom mixture.
  8. Roll out puff pastry and wrap it around the beef.
  9. Seal the edges and brush with beaten egg.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Let it rest before slicing.

  • Serve with a side of vegetables.
  • Best enjoyed fresh out of the oven.
  • Can be prepared a day ahead and baked before serving.
